A stunning wedding overseas: Meghan and Daniel

Following on from their beautiful wedding at Blackfriars Priory, we had a chat with Meghan about the cherished moments from their special day.

Why did you choose Blackfriars Priory?

We came across the website by chance while contemplating having our wedding in the UK.  As we are South African, the immediate mindset is to get married back home on a wine farm.  We were curious to know what UK wedding venues had to offer so hopped onto Google and, boom, up popped Blackfriars Priory.  I took one look at the expansive ceiling and immediately enquired because the photos I could see were just breath taking.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?

Oh to choose just one….my husband’s reaction when he saw me walking down the aisle for sure.  His reaction took me by surprise and I would encourage every bride to make sure you pay special attention to every detail of that moment because it is so incredibly overwhelming in the best way possible.

Tell us about your inspiration and styling.

As we planned our wedding in just 6 months, there were very limited suppliers who had availability. At first, this scared the living daylights out of me because it meant that we would have to do it all ourselves. But! That turned out to be one of the best things about our entire wedding experience. It meant we got to bring our own image to life in a way that was entirely authentic to us.

Top piece of advice for planning a wedding.

If, like us, you didn’t have the time or budget for a full wedding planner and stylists then my best piece of advice would be to play around with Canva. As somebody who doesn’t know very much about styling and décor, I felt any ideas I had needed to be visually represented so I could see it all together to be sure it would match and make sense. I created mood board after mood board, cutting and pasting images together until I found a combination that felt right. In the end, it turned out to be a process that I enjoyed! I would also say, speak to your loved ones and ask for help or advice.
