Party Without Plastic - Changing The Way We Celebrate
We are excited to introduce you to Party Without Plastic, who are all about reimagining celebrations - no more mountains of waste, and no more single-use plastics - simply joyous, stylish, sustainable celebrations that are good for people and good for the planet. We caught up with Lorraine, and found out more about her innovative ideas for sustainable celebrations.
Tell us a bit about your business and how it started
Party Without Plastic® began from the simple realisation that celebrations shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. After discovering how much plastic waste in particular the UK disposes of each year (over 5 million kilograms from weddings alone!) I set out to create a trusted, transparent, and ethical marketplace of beautiful alternatives that were completely free of single-use plastic. Since launching in 2024, we’ve grown to become recognised as one of the top 200 ethical businesses in the UK, but stay true to our ‘small is beautiful’ roots as every sale supports our UK small business sellers. We now have more than 250 single-use plastic free products on the marketplace, showing that it is possible to have all the joy and sparkle without the environmental impact.
What makes your work eco-friendly or sustainable?
Everything we offer is designed to minimise waste, reduce single-use plastic, and add style without impacting the planet. From seed ball favours that grow into wildflowers, to edible tableware you can enjoy with dessert, we know all our small business sellers personally as they undergo strict assessment to ensure each products has the lowest possible environmental footprint without sacrificing style or fun.
What can couples expect to see from you at the Eco Wedding Festival?
Our stand will be a treasure trove of sustainable celebration ideas – some you may already know of, and definitely some fun surprises! You’ll find wedding-themed piñatas, handmade, native wildflower seed ball favours, eco-friendly wedding straws and confetti cones, origami creations to keep little guests entertained, plantable wedding invites and heart shapes, edible cocoa spoons, plates, and cups, plus of course no wedding would be complete without biodegradable confetti. Everything is designed to inspire you to swap traditional throwaway wedding supplies for sustainable, stylish, joyful alternatives.
What’s your top tip for planning a sustainable wedding?
Think of every element of your day as an opportunity to create joy that lasts. Choosing products with a second life (or no waste at all) makes your wedding memorable for beyond the day itself, and remember: sustainability doesn’t have to mean compromise - it can add personality, creativity, and heart to your celebration.
You can meet Party Without Plastic and see what they offer up close at the Eco Wedding Festival on Sunday 5th October. You will also be able to Try out the UK’s first free AI Sustainable Party Planner - your smart wedding assistant that maps out every detail with eco-tips, suggestions for planet-friendly swaps, and will even generate unique sustainable themes such as Eco-Glam, Vintage Reuse, or a Zero-Waste Fiesta all in just a few minutes.
