Rooms at Gloucester Blackfriars can be hired in half or full day sessions for anything from small meetings to full conferences and we are able to set them up in a wide range of styles to suit most requirements. Further details about our rooms are available below.

The Whole Venue

Full access to all our spaces, including the Scriptorium and private cloister garden. Ideal for weddings, festivals, fairs, parties and residentials. Maximum capacity of 450 (layout dependant).

Promoters and Bands

We also work directly with bands and promoters who hire our 300 capacity North Range or our 100 capacity East Range for gigs and other live events. If you are interested in this type of hire please email

Meetings & Conferences

With a number of rooms (capacities from 8 to 250 seated) available throughout the day and evening, we are able to cater for a wide range of meetings and conferences. A fabulous historic environment, supplemented with modern technology and catering available all at very competitive prices makes us an ideal venue for all your business needs.

Lower East Range

The Lower East Range was originally part of the kitchens and still contains the large Oak fireplace. It is fully accessible from the front entrance, directly adjacent to the Ladybellegate Street car park. This room can be set up for small lectures, board meetings, interviews, seminars and similar or can be used as a breakout room for larger events.

Upper East Range

The East Range is a warm and intimate space with stone walls and oak panelled floor. It will seat up to 80 people in a lecture style and can be prepared for meetings , conferences or that surprise birthday party or special occasion. A conference sound system is available and it is a warm welcoming location for your meeting.

The North Range

This was the original Priory Church building, later converted into a mansion, then reinstated in the 19th Century. It is a very versatile space, and is used for anything from weddings, theatre productions, exhibitions, conferences, craft fairs or live music events. A stunning split level room with a capacity of up to 300 available, the full area can be used in a variety of layouts.


Should you require a hot fork buffet, finger buffet or just tea and coffee for your delegates, our catering team can arrange everything.

Technical Support

Technical equipment available includes; data projectors, laptops, flipcharts and audio equipment e.g. microphones, CD players or full concert sound for your band. We have technical support available, whatever your requirements.
