Guided Tours

Private guided tours can be arranged with well respected and knowledgeable members of the Gloucester Civic Trust. Our guides have been offering tours of the site for many years - to put it simply - what they don't know about the history of the Priory, isn't worth knowing!

So for a fascinating and entertaining walk through our amazing collection of buildings, we recommend booking a tour. Packages for groups can be arranged, with afternoon tea and refreshments provided after the tour. Please contact us for more information.

The Friends of Blackfriars Priory

If you are interested in the history of Blackfriars and would like to support the future of the site, the Friends is for those who share a common interest in the Priory and are enthusiastic about its preservation and enjoyment by others. It is also for those who would like to become involved and support the site through volunteering, stewarding and fundraising. We want to encourage an interest in history through our talks and tours and develop a social aspect for those interested in the priories such as through Friends events.

The Friends group includes:

  • Free membership
  • A seasonal newsletter and information to keep you up to date via email or post.
  • Specialist tours and events for the Friends

How can I get involved?

We are always keen for volunteers to help us onsite. Such as through stewarding at public events, gardening, fundraising, helping with the Friends group and assisting us in researching Blackfriars.

If you would like to get involved please fill in a membership form with your name, address, email and contact number and we can add you to our Friends list. Forms can be returned either by email to , by post to Blackfriars Priory, C/O Gloucester Guildhall, 23 Eastgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 1NS or drop it into the Guildhall Box Office.
